Coach Marcy goes above and beyond to make sure that you receive information, stay consistent and hit your goals. When I started working with Coach Marcy, I was going through a lot, Mom battling cancer, business income slowing up and more. So, at a point I fell off the face of the map, and Coach Marcy made sure to make contact with me any way possible. I appreciate her dedication and her care. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking to elevate in their career, profession or just life.

Coach Marcy is a true gem. The job hunting process can be frustrating, so it's amazing how people can come into your life when you are truly in need. I connected with Coach Marcy via LinkedIn, and later had a resume review session, and my time with her was awesome. I left our meeting feeling empowered, knowing how to better position myself in interviews and with my resume. She's truly passionate about what she does, and is very motivating. She genuinely wants everyone that she works with to succeed. With my new resume revisions, I can't wait to report back to Coach Marcy with my new career opportunities.

Career Transition Made Easy

Hi, I'm Coach Marcy, founder of Career Maven Academy. I'm often asked why I started this 12-week program. I've got to tell you in advance - it is not a comfortable story to tell, but it is my truth.

In 1991, I began my career in human resources while working at a local health club in New York City. I was so in love with all things HR that I even changed my major in college to complete my master's degree in HR Management and Law.

Leaving NYC and relocating to a completely new environment taught me one thing - nobody cares about your struggles when it comes to employment. See, I never had a problem finding work in NY. I never had to worry about salary in NY. I never had to worry about a company's reputation in NY. After all, the streets were talking so I already knew the big corporations that paid well and offered exceptional benefit packages.

Fast forward to 2013 where I resigned from my HR role at a small organization in GA to assume an HR Director role in a large corporation based out of NY. I was responsible for full cycle recruiting, onboarding, HRIS data entry, policy & procedure adherence, payroll, attendance & FMLA - you name it!

I took a vacation to visit my family in NY, and while on vacation I received a text message requesting a meeting that Monday I was scheduled to return to work. The meeting was scheduled for 2pm. That allowed enough time to audit all time cards and calculate payroll to submit for processing.

At 2pm, the Vice President walked into the office and said, "We're gonna have to let you go." Although I was caught off guard I extended my hand in gratitude for the opportunity, and instead of reciprocity he called security to have me escorted out the building. No explanation, no emotion, no notice, no nothing. I sat in the parking lot for thirty minutes in shock, and drove off.

I drove to unemployment, completed my unemployment information, updated my resume in their office, applied for food stamps and Medicaid, and drove home. I remained numb for two additional days before I told my children.

I had no idea how the bills would be paid. Let's face it, I lived from check to check since I was a teenager, so I had no idea how I was even going to pay for school lunch for my kids! I felt useless, stupid, confused, and angry.

That's when I decided to do something about it. Day four, I woke up, showered, got dressed for work, took my laptop to the dining room and sat there from 8am-6pm daily for three weeks applying for jobs. By week four, I was depressed and stressed. I rested for one day - and I got the call. I got an interview! The following day, I got two more calls for interviews. I closed the week going on three interviews, and had three offers the following Monday!

What did I do to secure three offers in four weeks? How did I manage my time while applying for work eight hours a day? Why did I start this program? - To let you know I have been there not just this time I told you about, but THREE times! Each time it was painful and depressing, but each time I incorporated tools I've created and improved on year over year to ensure I am never out of work for more than TWO WEEKS!

My name is Marcy Williams, and I have been fired, laid off, reduced, underpaid and unappreciated. Today I teach EVERYONE who crosses my path how to secure a career doing what they love and being paid well to do it!
